aka Calne Fynamor Secondary Modern School
Silver Street, Calne, Wiltshire
Badge as depicted in Bunty #52 [10 Jan 1959]
In 1930 Wiltshire County Council built a new school in Silver Street for children aged 11 and upwards; this became a secondary modern school. It was enlarged in 1940 and again in 1963 when there were 613 on the roll. The name was changed in 1964 to the Fynamore School and in 1974 it merged with the Bentley Grammar School to become the John Bentley Comprehensive School. The buildings in Silver Street continued to be used until 1998 when the school consolidated on one site and the Silver Street buildings demolished.
