The old Castle Girls Junior School, Knaresborough
Castle Junior Schools in Knaresborough were segregated by sex until 1971.
Castle Boys Junior School was founded as a National School in the Castle Yard in 1814. The original buildings were added to later.
Castle Girls Junior School was originally in a room in the nearby vicarage. It moved to a new building in the Castle Yard in 1837 as the National School for Infants and Girls. The infants later moved to a new school at Manor Road.
Both the boys and girls schools are grade II listed.
The boys and girls schools amalgamated and moved in to the old Secondary Modern School building on Stockwell Road in 1971.
